Introduction
Welcome to the second edition of the Clifford Wallace Client and Staff Newsletter.
As with the entire hospitality industry and the economy, the last few months have been challenging for Clifford Wallace and it looks like it may get worse before it gets better... Nevertheless we remain excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead and this environment means that we have to be even more innovative in the staffing solutions we offer clients . |
Recent Events we have Staffed
We were sustained during our quietest month of January by the St George Open Air Cinema at Mrs Macquarie’s Point, Mark and Martin led a team of staff from mid-January until mid–February to be part of this iconic summer event
We have staffed a number of events at the National Art Gallery Canberra over the last few months, including the opening and closing dinners for the recent Degas exhibition, see photos below including one of our staff at leisure sight seeing at Parliament House
In February we staffed the opening of The Hospitality Depot, an exciting hospitality concept store in Auburn (see lead photo)
On April 20th we had the pleasure of staffing the seventh annual Astra Awards at Fox Studios
As in past years we staffed the Easter Racing Carnival at the AJC Randwick
On April 16th we were privileged to staff the Marie Claire Awards at Fox Studios.

From the Office
We are very excited about our new end to end booking, invoicing and payroll software which eliminates many of our manual processes thereby increasing the timeliness, responsiveness and accuracy of our booking process. Hopefully after the expected initial transitional teething problems our clients will notice the benefits. New opportunities
We are always looking for new clients in all sectors, corporate, event, catering and private. We recognize that the best marketing tool is word of mouth and satisfied clients spreading the word. Accordingly we are introducing an immediate promotion, whereby in return for a recommendation which leads to a successful sales lead or the introduction of a new client, we will upon the new client spending >$500:
immediately reward you with dinner for two at a fine Sydney restaurant, and;
enter your name into a quarterly draw for an interstate weekend away for two, a winner will be announced in our next quarterly newsletter in July/August
to nominate a potential new client who might appreciate an approach from us, please call Roger or Chris on 92679933 at any time

Staff Member Profile
Our staff come from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. This newsletter we feature Diego Schutt from Brazil...Diego Schutt has been working for Clifford Wallace since May 2006. For the last 2 years, he has worked primarily at Macquarie Bank. During this period, he completed an Advanced Diploma in Business Marketing and now is up to a new challenge: finding a job in the Advertising industry. Before he came to Australia, he worked for several years as a Senior Art Director at Advertising, Promotional Marketing and Internal Marketing agencies. He believes that he developed many great skills whilst working in the hospitality industry, which can be very useful in his next job. Most importantly, to stand close to the kitchen at a cocktail function to ensure you get first choice of the food.
Diego is now seeking a full-time position in the Advertising industry. |

Staff Holidays I spent Christmas and New Year in the Northern Hemisphere, highlights included a trip to the Jungfrau, Switzerland, highest point in Switzerland and at the other extreme a week in India, including Mumbai and Goa. I was also in London on February 2nd, the only day in recent history the famed London buses stopped due to the heaviest snow in 18 years!! Despite an almost complete breakdown of public transport, I managed to escape the nation’s capital and reach my home in Northern England in record time.

Staff weekend away
In January many current and former Clifford Wallace staff headed to Port Stephens for a huge weekend to celebrate the birthdays of Martin, Hana and Patrick . This was a weekend of eating, drinking, table tennis (with kitchen utensils being used as substitute bats) and strenuous four wheel driving through the sand dunes and most of all, lots of dancing. Some of the more appropriate pictures from the weekend are published below

By Invitation Only
This is the section where we invite contributions from staff, this week everyone’s favourite Kitchenhand, Bency Bhabu
From top dog to slum dog (but I am still waiting to become a millionaire...)
Bency is a Man of few words, but the words he speaks has meaning that is both deep and influential. It was his destiny to come to this big, brown flat country after the greatest of holymen told Bency to leave his homeland without any correspondence for two and a half years.
It was written before his birth and only is read from the stars by the greatest of phophets and the holiest of men. Having a chartered course has enabled Bency to strive fourth with knowledge, power and wisdom that has been handed to him in both verse and prayer.
So let it be written, so let it be done, Bency is the chosen one.
Now it is his destiny to live a life in Australia that is one of discovery, challenge and learning.
After having turned down the chance to study in a certificate of bicycle repair, he has opted for the noblest of studies in Accountancy. To this date, he has reservations at times if he has indeed taken the correct path.
Being known by the establishment in India as a man about town, Bency was never found queing in line to gain entry into India's top nightclubs or entertainment venues. As all things eventually come to an end, now he is queing in line on a daily basis, from Macdonalds to the bus or ferry, his current situation really does demonstrate that all top doggs do indeed turn into slum doggs at some time, and after all every dogg has its day....
Working under the most noblest of managers, Bency only hopes that he can follow in such footsteps. He feels humble and honoured to be working in the presence of such people at Clifford Wallace Agency.
From the beginning of time and recorded history, stories have been passed down from generation to generation and from bloodline to bloodline about a time when a man will fall from grace, only to be reborn and rise again to become a force that has never been witnessed by human kind. That time is now and that man is Bency...
