Introduction
Welcome to our inaugural Clifford Wallace newsletter where we share with you highlights of recent events and happenings at Clifford Wallace.
We hope that at this very busy time of year you can take a few moments to read, enjoy and maybe provide feedback. |
Comings and Goings
By nature our workforce is very transient but it’s always hard saying ‘goodbye’.
In August we said farewell to senior staff members Akos and Anke who have left to start new lives in Berlin and to Alzbeta who has returned home to Slovakia to resume her career. And then in October we said goodbye to someone who had touched all our hearts over the last five years, Nobukai Shimamoto (Shimmy) returned to Japan in October and later plans to live in LA to study drama and acting. On the night of Saturday October 5th an unprecedented number of present and past CWA staff gathered at the Slip Inn to see Shimmy and kick off a whole weekend of festivities. Shimmy will be very much missed by staff and clients alike. We have also welcomed a lot of new people who you will meet over the next few months. |

Holidays
In September we were all very envious when Xenie (from our office) returned from a European holiday which included a road trip to Norway.
Over to Xenie:
"As a part of my European summer holiday this August, accompanied by my sister Eva and her boyfriend Ondrej, I’ve camped my way through the lower half of Norway.
To those of you who haven’t visited this birthplace of Vikings, homeland of legendarily cruel trolls and stunningly raw untouched nature I can only say, please add it to your list of “must see places”
The absolute highlights of my 2 week trip would have to be:
- Jotunheimen National park for the day hike along the mountain ridges overlooking Gjendje Pan and lakes (picture 1)
- Rondane National Park with it’s pyramid like mountain ranges and ever changing weather patterns (picture 2)
-Hike across and drive down the Troll Way with incredibly steep angle turns (picture 3)
Cruise down Eisen Fjord lined with breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls (picture 4)
I’d love to come back to visit the top half of Norway someday and experience the phenomena they call White Nights (when daylight lasts 24hours)"

Recent Events.
As always the last few months have seen CWA supply staff to iconic Sydney events, some highlights include:
- on a cold Tuesday morning in August, Roger, Patrick and a team of 45 wait staff met at 3.45AM outside our office in Pitt St to go to the international airport to meet our returning Olympic heroes. This proved to be a very busy day for us, as many of our people went on to work boardroom lunches and dinners on the same day .
- on a Sunday morning in September Roger, Patrick, Val and a team of 50 did the same thing again, this time for the arrival of the first Qantas A380 airbus.
We also staffed:
-the opening of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Unit at St Vincents Private Hospital attended by Princess Mary of Denmark;
- the Merceedes Benz 50th anniversary VIP dinner at the Horden Pavillion, Fox Studios;
- the Mother of all Balls at the Australian Technology Park;
- the NRL Grand Final at ANZ Stadium;
- the Cure for Cancer Ball at Fox Studios;
- Melbourne Cup festivities at the Australian Jockey Club, Randwick;
- the Macquarie Bank Christmas Party at Bennelong Lawn;
- Andre Rieu concerts at ANZ Stadium |
Even in these uncertain economic times we are still looking to grow our business, both in the corporate and event sectors. If you are happy with our services, please spread the word or we would be most appreciative of any leads you can provide. Very early in 2009 we will be sending you details of a promotion rewarding any recommendation with a dinner for two and the chance of a weekend interstate to be drawn quarterly, we hope to be able to announce winners in our next newsletter.
Finally on behalf of everyone at Clifford Wallace may we wish you and your families and friends a very relaxing, happy and safe Christmas and a prosperous 2009. |
